Rolling Star | Hand Crafted Font
Rolling Star is a hand-crafted display font inspired by quilts, fabric appliqué, and letters cut from cloth to be stitched onto flags and banners to communicate a message. It draws from the tradition of fibre arts as language — words pieced together slowly, sewn into surface, and carried by hand.
Historically, banner-making and textile lettering have often been women’s work: messages cut from fabric, patched into place, and raised publicly when other avenues of authorship were limited. ROLLING STAR carries that stitched, assembled spirit forward — letters that feel constructed rather than drawn, pieced together like a quilt block.
This font embraces perfectly imperfect edges. Forms wobble slightly. Alignment resists rigidity. The irregularities are intentional — echoing hand-cut fabric, visible fibres, and patchwork seams. It is not polished or corporate; it is tactile, human, and built piece by piece.
While rooted in quilting and fibre traditions, ROLLING STAR is equally at home on sports banners, handmade flags, community signage, vintage-inspired graphics, and anything that calls for a crafted, nostalgic, and slightly distressed touch.
Perfect for:
• Sports banners and handmade-style flags
• Vintage-inspired posters and signage
• Community events and grassroots graphics
• Album artwork and screen-printed merch
• Branding that leans into fibre arts, craft, and texture
What’s included:
• Uppercase A–Z — plain, unframed letterforms
• Lowercase a–z — letters set within block-quilt backgrounds
• Alternate W & w letterforms — accessible via alternates in your design software
• .otf font file
Please note:
ROLLING STAR includes letters only. There are no numbers and no punctuation. This font is designed for display and graphic purposes.
Use the tester below to explore both uppercase and lowercase styles.
Important note
Rolling Star is purposefully imperfect. This is intentional and central to the aesthetic — reflecting hand-cut fabric, patchwork construction, and the honest irregularities of handmade work.
Rolling Star is both a tool and a tribute — honouring textile language, banner-making traditions, and the expressive power of craft assembled by hand.
LICENSING
Your purchase includes a Standard Desktop Font License for one user (one seat). This covers use in print (posters, packaging, branding), digital graphics (web, social media, apps), logos, and both personal and client projects.
If more than one person will be using the font, or if it needs to be installed on multiple devices, please add the Extended / Multi-User License to your order ($50 USD add-on).
This add-on includes the same usage rights, simply scaled for team use.
If you’re unsure which license you need, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to help.
