I’m an independent multidisciplinary designer-artist living in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, New Zealand.
My practice is rooted in a Fine Arts background and a love of imperfection, organic forms and work made by hand.
I grew up in Pōneke, Wellington, drawing at Inverlochy Art School before going on to study Fine Arts. Today my creative practice moves across illustration, design, type, objects, sound and storytelling, alongside my work as an arts educator and creative mentor.
My work often explores language, symbols and handmade forms — drawing from analogue processes, traditional printmaking, folk culture, nature, music and the visual language of the past. I make all kinds of things, from typefaces and illustration libraries to paintings, ceramics, short films and visual research projects.
My project exploring the visual language of protest received a Silver at the 2023 Best Design Awards — part of an ongoing practice that brings together social themes, storytelling and experimentation.
I’ve lived in London, Los Angeles and Byron Bay, and spent time working from an artist’s studio in New York. I’m always collecting scraps of inspiration — old books, signs, songs, objects and overlooked things that carry meaning.
I like: Sister Corita Kent, the 1970s, Nina Simone, Newport Folk Festival, art galleries, Los Angeles, old cars, folk music, the language of protest, documentaries, Badlands (1973), Eames, architecture, Apartamento magazine, Whangamatā, Joan Didion, walking in canyons, looking at rocks and painting peace signs.
I currently live in Tāmaki Makaurau in a little Californian bungalow with my partner Nik and our dog Moon.
Thank you for being here and for supporting my independent creative practice — whether through buying my work, sharing it, collaborating with me or simply following along.
