In 1958, Gerald Holtom conceived the iconic peace sign for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, ingeniously incorporating elements from semaphore signals: the central vertical line denoting "D" and the downward lines on either side representing "N", encapsulating the powerful plea for nuclear disarmament within a encompassing circle.

Holtom's profound vision also interpreted the symbol as a poignant reflection of human despair, portraying a figure with hands outstretched, set against the backdrop of Earth.

Project Peace is a deeply personal project currently being cemented as a body of work that hopes to serve a greater purpose through the art of the peace sign.

By adopting the peace sign as a symbol and muse of many works of art including painting, drawing and collage it’s simple and effective shapes are explored through colour, giving it endless possibilities to be shared for causes and a greater message.
